Okay this is out of my mind i just thought of this like a minute ago not joking. Okay so competition has lead to great things. Some have been huge skyscrapers and people winning in the Olympics. It could be something small like seeing who can run faster. So why do you think we have to choose some one who is the best at that things. Examples could be like the best rapper alive Kanye West or Lil Wayne. Best Poet Robert Frost. I just wonder why do we have to pick or choose who is best at something. Even though competition can be good to much competition can be bad for those in that competition.

Why do people pick certain people? To win?

Well, other than that, competiting against someone is actually nice, for pride or for the fun of it.

Sure it's nice... unless you're the LOSER.

Seriously though, a little "healthy" competition is good. It makes us dig deeper than we thought we could to achieve "impossible" goals. For instance, the best way to get better at something (running, swimming, etc.) is to constantly compete against someone that is slightly better than you. That's one of the reasons why they have the fastest swimmers/runners compete against each other in the final races of the olympics. Records are broken in those races for a reason.

That being said, competition can also bring out the "ugly" in people. Causes incredible stress and can lead to people making bad decisions, like cheating and sabotage. It can also ruin friendships and even family relations. (I hated the fact that my twin and I were constantly competing against each other, in, well, everything. even though people always said we weren't.... we totally were...)
Anyway, I don't know where I was going with this.
Competition = double-edged sword.
