Why do people call others stupid? Is it because those people really feel smart? Could it be they are insecure, or trying to hide their own stupidity?

I think they do it to be funny, make fun of that person jsut because the are smarter.

Nope. Ususally you call someone stupid when they are highly Ignorant/ moronic/Idiotic. It's not like you'll call someone stupid for no reason, but you might if what they said is just plain dumb or illogical.

Anyways, regarding the original topic: there is no true answer which applies in all cases. There are idiots who mock others in an attempt to cover their own stupidity & lack of self respect, and then there are those who genuinely believe that the opposing party is acting in/saying foolish ways/things.

well i think that people some times do tell others stupid to hide their on stupidity but they are also people that are trying to be funny that is what i think

Well, they could be calling someone stupid because the person has an IQ of -10,
to make you look bad or to make them feel better inside, or because they are treated badly by their parents (unless it's a grown man) so they take it out on them.
