No. First, technically Gogeta isn't canon, as he only appears in the twelfth movie and GT, which were both done by people who weren't Akira Toriyama. Second, Elder Kai states that the fusion with the Patorra (Spelling?) earrings is stronger than that of the Metamorian (Spelling again...?) fusion dance, plus, since Goku and Vegeta were rivals, the fusion was even stronger.

well i remember reading somewhere that akira toriyama said that after the android saga and before the beginning of the cell saga, the fighters reached power levels that could no longer be scaled by any scouter but could be felt how powerful it wuz. by how the planet reacted when they were drawing on their power. plus they can sense energy now. who needs scouters?
