Luffy more likeable than Goku?

In one of the commentaries for the Funimation One Piece DVDs, both Chris Sabat and Mike McFarland stated they think Luffy is more likeable than Goku. What do you think? P.S.- I like them about the same.:)

Both characters are designed to be liked by younger audience, as being close to "undefeatable" and always rescuing friends and would be missing common sense.

But overall I'd say Luffy is more likeable.

hells naw in my opinion. goku was a family man and every1 of his friends adored him. he fought only to keep them safe and was not just in search of power like luffy. luffy is a freakin criminal. hes a pirate and for the most part people would rather kill him and collect his bounty. this isn't even a contest to me.

both of them had their own charm. Goku always the hero and got power out of nowhere and he's kinda dumb but not funny dumb.

Luffy has a really funny dumb but gets srious really well... he maybe a criminal but he helps people along the way and has the heart in the right place. he's only a criminal because the corrupt goverment says so.

Both of them are great in some way. I would not say that i like one more than the other, because i don't!!!!! I like them both. Each of them had a place in my life. DB/DBZ was one of animes i grew up with (also Slayers, Saint Seiya and so on.) One piece was something i found out later on but the storyline caught my eye. Therefore in my eyes both of them are great :D

Well I like em both, but at times I do find luffy more appealing.


Anyways, sorry j0n but I personally I believe you're a bit in the wrong here. The reason I say that is, while yes they are mainstreamed somewhat, they are also the top selling and top read mangas in the world, which of course includes Japan. No offense, but I mean if its the most read even in the mangas home country, its gotta be good.

Like I said, people who see anime overseas basically get stuck to that one, especially in parts of America and such. Then, they'd spread the word and it'd keep on going, and going. Since those are the only anime shown there first, they'd like that, but wouldn't really have much knowledge of the other ones out there, if you know what I mean.

It's more like first in popularity means first in for the title of 'the best'
Then all the other manga/anime are left out, which is pretty sad.
